Maker Challenges
Cross-curricular challenges will support creativity, collaboration and innovation across the campus. The library media specialist will reach out to departments across the school to collaborate on Maker Challenges related to their curriculum. We will focus on no more than 2 - 3 challenges per school year, but each one will be an expansive whole school opportunity for students and teachers to dive deep into curricular themes and use the makerspace resources in unique and creative ways.

SHS Covers the ClassicsThe media center, English Department, and Art Department at Shrewsbury High School collaborated for a SHS Covers the Classics cross-curricular challenge for the 2016-2017 school year. Through this challenge, students will be invited to create new covers for classic literature. Winning covers will be converted to ebooks for the media center and classroom literature. We will also make one of the covers into a poster. This challenge will be a perfect opportunity for students to explore the art and graphics tools in the media center makerspace.

And more...Finding Maker Challenges will be a continually evolving process, but other ideas in the works include designing an interactive makerspace display, a kite design contest, or coding a responsive banner for a makerspace resources website.
